Part-time Youth Engagement Worker

Go Digit All are recruiting a Part-time Youth Engagement Worker to be part of their detached youth work team. The hours of work will be Monday 9.30-4.30pm and  4pm – 8.30pm on Wednesday and Thursday.

The main purpose of the role will be to develop and support the Youth Engagement programme by engaging with young people and providing structured programmes in a range of settings providing support to young people through the provision of detached youth work, using ICT (Information and Communication Technologies) as a medium of engagement.

The post holders will be required to:

• Engage with young people in a range of settings to support the provision of structured programmes aimed at disengaged young people. This will include educational and sports based sessions such as football and dance.
• Engage and inform young people on positive alternatives identified in locality areas via a detached and one to one approach.
• Work in accordance with child protection legislation, equal opportunities legislation and all relevant Go Digit All policies.
• Produce reports as and when required for management.

Candidates will be required to demonstrate:

• Previous experience of working with hard to reach groups of young people.
• Previous experience of or a strong passion to develop skills in Youth and Community Work.
• Verbal communication skills which demonstrate an ability to communicate with youths, colleagues and partner agencies.
• The ability to remain calm and diffuse conflict situations.
• The ability to engage and communicate with youths aged 12-18 years.

A clean driving licence is desirable.
This post is currently funded until 31 October 2013.

Location: City Wide
Salary: £6.19 per Hour (16 hours)
